The Unza Group Announces Investment and Merger with Leading Indonesian Cosmetic and Personal Care Company
Singapore May 26, 2005: The UNZA Group, through its subsidiary PT UNZA Indonesia, today announced an investment in and the merger of assets with leading Indonesian personal care company, PT Vitalis. Headquartered in Singapore, the UNZA Group is Asia’s leading independent personal care products company. The investment will strengthen UNZA in the ASEAN market through the incorporation of PT Vitalis’ successful portfolio of products, distribution network and the construction of a new plant for domestic and export production.
UNZA’s investment is part of a strategy to strengthen its position in the key growth markets for personal care products in South East Asia. Over the past 25 years, UNZA has established over 30 leading personal care brands developed specifically for Asian consumers, including Eversoft, Enchanteur and Safi. Vitalis is a leading personal care group in Indonesia with three main product groups of Body Wash, Skin Care and Cologne.

PT Vitalis Indonesia was the perfect partner for UNZA because it has excellent management, complementary brands and an extensive distribution network through which UNZA products can be made available to the large and increasingly discerning Indonesian consumer market,” said Gavin Welman, Managing Director of the UNZA Group.
PT Vitalis, under the management of President Director Billy Hartono Salim, has established a strong market position in personal care in Indonesia. PT Vitalis has built an extensive sales and distribution network, with subsidiaries PT Sumber Ayu undertaking brand marketing and PT KAPM undertaking manufacturing. PT UNZA Indonesia will acquire all the assets including: land, stock and inventory. UNZA International, a 100% owned subsidiary of the UNZA Group, will acquire the associated trademarks. Billy Hartono Salim will become the President Director of the enlarged merged operations, renamed PT UNZA Vitalis Indonesia.

UNZA Indonesia was incorporated in 2001, and this transaction will bring the Group’s investment in the country to more than US$10 million. The Company plans to construct a new factory in Sala Tiga, located in Central Java, which will be used to manufacture existing UNZA brands and develop new products. The UNZA Group currently has manufacturing plants in China, Malaysia, and Vietnam, and the new factory in Sala Tiga, when completed, will be the largest site in the Group; focused on manufacturing products for the domestic and export markets.
